MDS Staffing is seeking an experienced Steel / Metals Detailer in St Paul, MN. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented drafter who enjoys turning architectural and structural concepts into precise fabrication-ready drawings.
Our client is a well-established metals fabricator based in St. Paul, MN. They’ve built a strong reputation in the Twin Cities for high-quality fabrication and installation of stairs, railings, canopies, structural supports, and other custom architectural and miscellaneous metal projects.
Produce accurate shop and erection drawings for stairs, railings, platforms, and other fabricated steel/miscellaneous metal components.
Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specs, and field measurements to develop fabrication-ready details.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, shop personnel, and installers to ensure accuracy and constructability.
Revise drawings based on design changes, RFIs, and field feedback.
Assist with material take-offs, cut lists, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Ensure drawings meet building codes, AISC standards, and fabrication best practices.
3+ years of detailing experience in structural steel or miscellaneous metals (stairs, railings, platforms, etc.).
Strong AutoCAD skills (SDS/2, Tekla, or similar software experience is a plus).
Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings.
Knowledge of welding symbols, fabrication methods, and shop standards.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Effective communicator who can collaborate across design, shop, and field teams.
