Job Description



We are rapidly mobilizing resources for our new WMATA Communications Contract and we are immediately hiring for this position  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile initiative that supports WMATA’s mission of delivering safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services.

The Reliability Engineer will play a key role in supporting quality assurance, audit programs, and reliability initiatives across WMATA operations. This position involves developing audit programs, drafting inspection forms, analyzing data, and assisting with configuration management and document control processes. The successful candidate will have strong experience in reliability engineering, quality processes, and compliance standards, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement audit programs to ensure compliance with WMATA quality standards.
  • Draft inspection forms and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Analyze reliability and quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying inspection and audit areas to enhance operational reliability.
  • Support configuration management and document control processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to communication specifications and industry standards.

Qualifications



Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Civil, or similar).
  • 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Proficiency with quality processes, specifications, and auditing principles.
  • Experience in configuration management and document control systems.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.

Preferred; 

  • 10 years of experience in reliability engineering or quality assurance roles.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as transportation, aviation, or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in working independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
