Kyra Solutions is seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to support our government technology initiatives within Transportation and Regulatory practices. This role focuses on fortifying network security, optimizing firewall environments, administering security controls, and supporting cybersecurity operations for mission-critical systems that serve government agencies and citizens.

This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring strong expertise in network security, firewall management, vulnerability remediation, and security policy enforcement.

• Design, implement, and manage network security architectures , including firewalls, IPS/IDS, and secure network segmentation.

• Develop, apply, and maintain security best practices , policies, standards, and technical controls across enterprise network environments.

• Monitor and manage firewall policies , including rule creation, optimization, and compliance with security guidelines.

• Perform vulnerability management , including scanning, assessment, remediation tracking, and reporting.

• Troubleshoot and resolve network security issues , including firewall conflicts, intrusion attempts, and suspicious activity.

• Maintain and update network security documentation such as diagrams, configurations, standards, and procedures.

• Collaborate with IT teams to evaluate and implement security improvements in network infrastructure.

• Support antivirus and endpoint protection systems to ensure alignment with network security standards.

• Assist with security audits , risk assessments, and compliance activities as needed.

• Proven experience in network and information security .

• Strong hands-on experience with firewalls (policy creation, implementation, tuning, best practices).

• Solid understanding of network protocols , security architectures, and threat mitigation strategies.

• Experience in vulnerability management tools , security assessments, and risk mitigation.

• Knowledge of security threats, techniques, and protection mechanisms across diverse platforms.

• Ability to analyze and resolve network security incidents with minimal impact on users.

• Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience working in government, transportation, or regulatory environments.

• Familiarity with industry standards such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, FISMA , or other compliance frameworks.

• Experience with network monitoring, SIEM tools, and endpoint security solutions.

• Certifications such as Network+, Security+, CEH, CCNA Security, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or CISSP are a plus.
