Description A reputable defense firm in Oakland, CA, is seeking 2-3 law clerks to join the team on a contract basis to support a large-scale document review project. These law clerks will bring expertise in legal research, drafting, document review, and case management. This is a great opportunity for recent law school graduates who are studying for the bar or about to take the upcoming bar exam, looking to gain experience in the meantime with a wonderful firm! Responsibilities: - Conduct comprehensive document reviews, analyzing physical files to identify relevant legal information. - Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including briefs and contracts. - Support litigation efforts by organizing and managing high-volume case materials. - Utilize case management software to track progress and maintain accurate records. - Perform legal research to contribute to asbestos-related litigation cases. - Collaborate with attorneys to ensure all case details are thoroughly reviewed and addressed. - Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards in handling sensitive legal information. - Develop summaries and reports based on reviewed materials to support legal strategies. - Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines throughout the review process. Requirements - Proven experience in document review and case management within a legal setting. - Proficiency in case management software and other relevant tools. - Strong knowledge of legal drafting, including contracts and briefs. - Familiarity with asbestos litigation or similar complex legal cases. - Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. - Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. - Strong legal research skills and the ability to analyze complex information. - Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
