About the role:

We are seeking a well-rounded and experienced drafter to assist in drawing preparation for submittal, fabrication and erection drawings as required for structural and miscellaneous metals projects. This position involves skills in Tekla Structures and AutoCAD. Extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, as well as working as part of a team. Responsibilities:

· Coordinate and work in conjunction with Engineers when required .

· Be able to set and meet deadlines.

· Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Read and interpret new project design conditions based on written specification sheets and/or architectural drawings.

· Serve as a resource for conflict resolution in the 3D model, field and shop .

· Develop and insert design objects into the GC’s 3D model .

· Generate 2D and/or 3D technical drawings for project design approval (submittal), for fabrication and erection.

· Generate accurate Bill of Materials for assigned project designs in tandem with the detailing process.

· Coordinate with Project Management and Production Team to resolve problems with production or construction teams and provide document adjustments, as necessary.

Qualifications:

· Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings as well as specifications.

· Knowledge of steel detailing requirements and procedures and industry standards

· Self-motivated; Excellent time management and organizational skills.

· Understanding of AWS welding procedures.

· The ability to work in an office environment as well as a shop floor and/or construction site with varying environment conditions.

· Knowledge and understanding of building codes, AISC codes, OSHA requirements and IBC standards.

· Proven ability to produce accurate, clear, and simplified steel detailing drawings that minimize fabrication complexity, reduce errors, and improve constructability.

Education, Experience and Other:

· Minimum of 5 years professional experience working as a CAD designer within the Structural/Construction industry is required.

· Experience in 3D software, TEKLA is preferred.

· Experience with rails and stairs is preferred.

· Proficient with AutoCAD.
