Job Description

A large Metal Manufacturer in the Newburg area is in need of an experienced Shipping and Receiving - Material Handler on first shift. This is a full time temp to hire position. The schedule is Monday - Thursday; 6am to 4:30pm & Friday; 6am to 2:30pm. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk-Material Handler is responsible for shipping, receiving, and delivering supplies, materials and equipment, and maintaining inventory control and records. Keeping warehouse organized to ensure warehouse is kept clean and orderly.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must work well with others as part of team and be committed to providing our customers with an excellent experience

Operate a forklift or pallet jack to load and unload freight

Verify quantity and quality of order received against the packing slip

Document and prepare damage claims for supervisor’s review and signature

Review all shipping documents to verify they are accurate and complete

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies

Package, wrap and secure product for shipment

Applies Labels and other identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers

Stock shelves and rotate inventory

Use power tools or hand tools to assemble wooden crates or cardboard containers

Operate computer software to enter product into warehouse storage and remove inventory when shipped

Demonstrate excellent customer service skills when providing information by phone

Must be able to clearly communicate with fellow team members

Maintain a clean and safe working environment • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• An equivalent combination of aptitude, education, certification and or experienced body of knowledge that will meet our requirements.

• Basic Math skills are required

• Data entry experience and the ability to access information on a computer software

• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point

• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

• Keen eye for detail

Previous experience with handling, storing, and shipping materials

Must be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack or other material handling equipment

Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record

• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills when communicating with customers

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize

Preferred Skills:

At least two years of Shipping/Receiving, Warehouse and/or Inventory Control experience preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics are as described; while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to varied temperatures due to working in a non-air-conditioned facility. In addition, the employee is regularly exposed to oil, grease, dust, odors, fumes, loud noise environment, and may work near moving mechanical parts. The work environment is not climate controlled.

• Ability to lift/push/pull weight from 10 to 50 lbs.

• Ability to stand/walk/move for up to 10 hours

• Must be able to perform movements such as lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, standing, and walking. Must be able to climb up and down, as well as work using a ladder.

• Employee is regularly working near moving mechanical parts

• Ability to work in dusty and dirty conditions

• Ability to stoop, lift and move objects; stand and walk continuously throughout an 8 hour or more shift
