Principal Electrical Engineer



Role Overview
We're seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced clean energy solutions - from utility-scale solar PV and battery storage to EV charging infrastructure and microgrids. This role will take ownership of the full engineering lifecycle, shape grid-interconnected solutions and delivering high-impact projects that power communities, schools, and businesses with sustainable energy.

Compensation: up to $200k.

Location: Irvine, CA.



Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead design of solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and off-grid microgrid systems.
  • Develop full construction drawing sets (single-line and three-line diagrams) in compliance with NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards.
  • Conduct interconnection studies, prepare applications, and create dynamic system models.
  • Perform power system studies, including load flow, arc flash, short circuit, harmonic analysis, and protective device coordination.
  • Conduct site visits to assess infrastructure and determine optimal equipment placement
  • Manage vendor relationships and integrate innovative distributed energy resources (DERs).
  • Collaborate with clients, utilities, and contractors to resolve design issues and RFIs.
  • Write clear technical reports and proposals, simplifying complex energy solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety codes, jurisdictional, and utility requirements.

Qualifications:

  • California PE License (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in power distribution, utility interconnection, or DER systems
  • Expertise in solar PV, energy storage, EV infrastructure, and/or microgrids
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection procedures
  • Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or similar tools for modelling and power studies
  • Experience with BOMs, equipment specifications, and routing plans
  • Strong balance of technical depth with big-picture problem solving.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage clients, regulators, and cross-functional teams
