Job Description

Summary

In this key role, the Machine Tool Operator will operate and set up various types of equipment to achieve the Outer Diameter (OD). This highly motivated individual will use basic programming skills using software and manual editing of programs. The use of various tools and equipment to verify the dimensions of a part using the associated drawing are a must. This individual will follow the instructions about a job using safe work practices and using the appropriate tools to perform the job. Their knowledge of the area equipment and hand tools are essential to adhere to strict quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up machines to the desired size requirements.
• Set up inspection gages to verify part sizes.
• Position the part in the equipment and perform the necessary process.
• Inspect the part for proper sizing and return the part to the equipment if necessary.
• Clean and dry the parts before moving them to the next station.
• Complete inspection sheets and documentation, as needed.
  
   

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be technically inclined, have good communication skills and hands-on practices to get repairs successfully done in a timely manner. Teamwork and safety practices are a must. The ideal candidate will have a sense of urgency and strong effective communication skills at all levels of the organization. Education and/or Work Experience

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 1 year in a manufacturing setting.
• Machining experienced preferred.
• A technical school certificate for the machine trades.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills/Physical Requirements

• Able to operate and interpret results from measuring tools, gages, and visual standards.
• Able to read and interpret prints / drawings.
• Perform minor tooling changes, setup, and troubleshoot production equipment.
• Assure product and process quality measures are maintained.
• Good math and mechanical ability.
• Able to learn and improve on the manufacturing process.
• Travel is unlikely.
