We are seeking an experienced Generator Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform scheduled preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and testing on backup power generators (diesel, natural gas, or other types), as well as associated systems (automatic transfer switches, batteries, load-banks, etc.).
This role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently or as part of a field team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, battery checks, and other routine servicing.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical problems: identify failing components, control panels, relay logic, voltage/current issues.
- Repair generator systems: replace faulty parts, repair wiring or mechanical engine issues.
- Conduct load bank testing to ensure generator performance.
- Commission new generator installations (if applicable).
- Maintain detailed service reports, logs, parts usage, and maintenance schedules
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures (PPE, environmental protocols).
- Respond to emergency service calls if required (on-call rotation).
- Order and manage spare parts inventory.
- Work with customers professionally, explaining work done, any issues, and needed repairs.
Qualifications / Skills:
- High School Diploma / GED required; technical school or associate's in electrical, mechanical, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in generator maintenance or similar power-generation / industrial maintenance role.
- Strong electrical knowledge (AC/DC, relay logic, transfer switches).
- Mechanical skills: familiarity with engines, or fluid systems.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong safety mindset; familiarity with health & safety regulations.
- Must have own hand tools
Must have a valid driver's license.
