Senior Data Engineer Microsoft Fabric & Azure (W2)

About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to build and deliver enterprise data solutions on Microsoft Fabric and the modern Azure data stack. The ideal candidate is a hands-on builder with strong technical depth, consulting experience, and the ability to turn complex business requirements into reliable, performant data pipelines and analytics-ready datasets.
You'll work alongside a small, experienced team that partners directly with clients in energy, financial services, and distribution. The work is high-impact, leadership-backed, and core to our clients' success. This is a client-facing, delivery-focused role.
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize lakehouses, data warehouses, and semantic models in Microsoft Fabric
- Develop scalable data pipelines using Data Factory, Notebooks, and Dataflows Gen2
- Implement batch and streaming ingestion patterns using Fabric, Event Hubs, and related Azure services
- Transform and model data to support real-time analytics and operational reporting
- Write performant Spark (PySpark/Scala) and SQL code for data transformation and orchestration
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and client teams to deliver against defined technical standards
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and DevOps practices for data workloads
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks, Semantic Models)
- Proficiency in Azure data services (Synapse, ADF, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, Data Lake Storage)
- Experience building and maintaining real-time and batch data pipelines at scale
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
- Working knowledge of Spark (PySpark preferred), SQL, and Python
- Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and data governance best practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a remote, fast-paced client services environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience integrating SAP as a data source (e.g., SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW) using extraction tools such as SAP ODP, CDC connectors, or third-party solutions (Fivetran, Qlik Replicate, etc.)
Required Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (Exam AZ-305)
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (Exam DP-700)
